The Cake Shoppe

Sitting forlorn and empty now, with a ghost sign I gave it, is the old Cake Shoppe located on Andrews Hwy. Opened in the late 50's or very early 60's it was once, and probably still is, the best bakery ever established in Midland. It was owned by the Klempnauer family whose son is now a doctor in Midland. There is something about German bakers that just can't be beaten. Several bakers active in Midland today learned their trade here, including Tony of Tony's Mexican Bakery. I can still smell the sweet aroma and see the Klempnauers standing in their all white bakers clothing serving up the treats!
