State of the Union.....
My take on the Presidents address tonight, gives him generally high marks. There was the usual comments on the progress made in the last year, and the new proposals he will seek from Congress in the upcoming term. Touched on were the much needed reforms in healthcare, Medicade, and the need for reasonable prescriptions for low income citizens. The most notable healthcare issue being the reform of the indecent malpractice lawsuits and the insurance prices which ensue. Energy issues were touched upon, the most suprising of which was the announcement of large scale funding for fuel cell technology rsearch. I'm glad of this, even though I shouldn't be as it may put me out of business. But most probably I'll be long gone by the time this reaches the general market place.
The moment of truth and the high point of the evening was the discussion of the war on terrorism and of course, Iraq. In a grand moment Mr. President announced to the world that, "I will do everything necessary to protect the American people!" He seemed to be saying that the US was attacked on September 11th and we are not going to let that happen again. We will not let dictators proscribe how we live, and if you [France/Germany?] don't want to help, we don't need it. We are going to do what needs to be done to protect our country.......do with yours what you will.
Bully for you George!
